On
January 7th 2024, I sat still at the edge of an active
highway to confront speed with stillness. A group of friends were tasked to
search for me through the windows of their cars. The performance brought forth
the alienated simultaneity of being an object on a highway and being vulnerably
human to the environment. Imagining my friends driving nearby evoked a sense of
simultaneous loneliness and connectivity. By asking my audience to drive by to
find me, I handed them the double-edged sword of closeness.
